A significant acquisition for Spacekap

Spacekap continues its ascent.

In recent weeks, the Canada-based company has hired a new Director of Operations: “We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Alexandre Farley to our extended family. His leadership and commitment to operational excellence will be invaluable assets for Spacekap, enabling us to remain the leader in North America in the manufacturing of fiberglass truck boxes,” said Julien Bergeron, General Manager.

The new Director of Operations is tasked with overseeing production and ensuring the supply chain: “My priority is to bring the culture of Health and Safety of the Spacekap team to the forefront. Next, I must also manage our quality control processes to ensure that our standards of excellence are maintained. Finally, my challenge is to support the team making sure we improve the structure of the manufacturing process and our supply chain to ensure continuity of operations,” added Alexandre Farley.

Listening to employees

Alexandre was quickly impressed by the familial atmosphere and transparency at Spacekap: “During my first interview, President Frederic Albert and his team asked me to talk about myself. I immediately began discussing my professional experiences, but that’s not what they wanted to hear! They wanted to know who I was as a person, if I was married, if I had children… It threw me off a bit, I wasn’t expecting that! And when I started working there, I mentioned that I was very happy to work for them. They immediately corrected me, saying that I wasn’t working for them… but with them! It’s rare to hear that in a company! It confirmed to me that I had made the right choice. The transparency and vision are clear.”

A great fit with Spacekap

Despite not being perfectly comfortable with Spanish, Alexandre is able to exchange a few phrases with the employees, who are predominantly Latin American: “I love the multicultural aspect! Several nationalities come together. I chat with them a bit and try to make the effort to speak their language,” he adds proudly.

In addition to practicing his Spanish, Alexandre has been taking Mandarin courses for a few years! T

he 37-year-old is not one to rest on his laurels. He will complete a master’s in engineering management in early 2025: “I’m learning things at university that I can apply here, on the floor. It’s very enlightening.”

Several challenges

Like all manufacturing companies, several challenges stand in their way: The labor shortage, communication and training are the main issues: «I’m able to delegate work well to employees and provide leadership. I want to break down silos by involving sales and also human resources. The health and safety aspect is also of great importance to me. We will review work methods and equipment to ensure that Spacekap remains a safe company appreciated by its workers.” He adds to conclude.

Welcome aboard, Alexandre!
